Creative Process
The creative process is the most important part of any good project. It allows a designer to be specific, creative, and continue to produce meaningful work.
Project Goal
The goal for this project was to design a logo for a company, and then create a brand guide for that company as well as an app. I chose an ice cream shop that I call “Scoops by Summer.” It’s a neon lights themed ice cream shop that sells all sorts of fun flavors and emphasizes viewer experience.
Logo Concepts
The first step for designing this logo was to come up with name ideas and then a design to go with the name. Here you can see my thumbnails as well as 2 final concepts for the logo of Scoops by Summer. I chose the black neon lights logo as the final.
Mood Boards
Before I even created my logo, I created 3 mood boards to organize my ideas. The first idea was a vintage themed ice cream shop. The second was a neon lights theme (the one I ended up choosing), and the third was modern colorful theme.
Brand Guide
Creating a brand guide for Scoops by Summer was a long process. It includes all of the information about the brand. I worked on designing this brand guide throughout the entire process of this project. Take a look through the slides to see the pages of the brand guide. It includes the logo, typography, color palette, menu, app, delivery, merchandise, and the theme. Continue scrolling down on this page to see the details of the Scoops app.

App Wireframes
The first step in creating the Scoops app was to create block wireframes in Sketch. This app includes many different pages including the homepage, flavors, profile, maps, etc. Scroll through the gallery to view each page as well as explanations of the assets on the page. My goal was to have the app reflect the theme of the brand. It is designed to be user friendly, and even includes an feature to order your ice cream on the app.
After designing the block wireframes the next step was to create the finals in Sketch. The app is black with lettering and designs that appear to look like neon signs. I designed it to be colorful, fun, interactive, and interesting. Another important part of the process was to make sure the app was understandable by viewers as well as personal. There is a profile section that allows you to customize orders as well as view your favorite flavors.
Content Marketing
Another part of this project involved creating an email marketing plan. It involved coming up with what my audience was (College Carrie) and deciding how best to market to my audience. I decided on social media posts that allows users to sign up to receive instructions on how to order online and get free delivery on their first order.
